one step and God will take two
Lesson 0607-2
(Miller)
KEY VERSE: Genesis
12:1-4
Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of
your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I
will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your
name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I
will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be
blessed.” So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and
INTRODUCTION: Abram was told to leave
everything that was safe and secure for him. He was told to go to a new land, a
land that he had never seen before. Abram was 75 years old at the time. With
each passing year it becomes more difficult to make bold decisions for God or
for that matter for anyone. Our bones crack, our backs hurt. We would rather
stay at home than move forward. Yet God does not require anything of us that is
outside of our abilities. God called a senior citizen to begin a new journey, a
journey of faith. As difficult as this may have been for Abram, he obeyed and
went. Because of Abram’s obedience God blessed him. Abraham took one step and
obeyed God at face value. After Abram’s step of obedience God took steps toward
Abram. God gave him many multi-generational promises. God is always wanting to
bless those that are faithful to Him.
